I have been a state-authorised translator and interpreter in English since 1995 and have been self-employed for more than 15 years. As a sole practitioner, I am able to be flexible when choosing jobs and get to work with various partners on projects both big and small.

I have always like a degree of variation in my professional life and that is why I am working as both an interpreter and a translator. I work as an interpreter for e.g. the Copenhagen Police and various Danish courts and in that capacity, I am faced with a number of different kinds of English – from beautiful and perfect Queen's English to a more rudimentary grasp of English in non-native speakers. This way, I have developed the ability to adapt communication to the occasion. It is no good stubbornly insisting on speaking flawless English if the message is lost in the process. On the other hand, it may be an obstacle if I simplify the language too much for a client not facing such language challenges.

I also work as a translator and come into contact with many different texts. It may be e.g. birth certificates, death certificates, residence permits and the like where the client needs the translation to be certified by a state-authorised translator and interpreter and some times also authenticated by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Other times, it may be questionnaires that need to be translated as well as adapted for Danish users. Yet another kind of text could be a lawnmower manual. I deal with a great many subjects.

My clients are – to name but a few: the Copenhagen Police, the Copenhagen City Court, the Copenhagen High Court, the Refugee Board, market research institutes, translation agencies, private individuals, law firms, etc
